Update 14th January 2014 - Due to overwhelming demand for placements, please note for the next 6 months we are only able to accept applications for the roles of hand hygiene champions and meal time volunteers. Additional roles will be offered when available.
Volunteers provide an important link to the community and people of all ages and abilities give up their valuable time to work for the trust for free.
Our volunteers play a vital role in the delivery of our key services and there are opportunities and fundraising activities within the hospital.
Volunteering roles are open to anyone aged 16 years and over that either live/work or attend school/college within the Harrogate District. We regret that we are unable to accept applications from anyone living outside of the area.
We have introduced two deadline dates for 6th form students wishing to apply for volunteering. Please note your applications must be in by the following dates:
15 April 2014 and 15 November 2014. If your application is outside of these dates it will be held until the next intake.
Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of a six month period on a weekly basis giving anything from a hour or two to a full day. All prospective volunteers are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check, provide satisfactory references and attend a volunteer induction session prior to being placed. Please be aware that this process may take up to three months, and there may be a further delay due to the high number of requests that are currently being received.
We have over 500 volunteers who are involved in the following areas:
Working in patient clinics
Assisting our chaplaincy team
- Helping out in the WRVS café
Welcoming patients and visitors
Participating in support groups
Running Harrogate Hospital Radio
- Fund-raising activities
The Hospital’s ‘It’s in Your Hands’ Hand Hygiene campaign
