Harrogate Hospital and Community Friends

Harrogate Hospital and Community Friends is a local registered charity formed in 1966 to support local NHS Healthcare.  The Friends are run by an executive committee which raises in the region of £50,000 per year to provide facilities and equipment that cannot be provided from NHS sources.  When selecting projects for support, the Friends concentrate on patient comfort and dignity above all else. 

Recent purchases for the Trust have included:-

• The ultrasound Scanner for the Macmillan Dales Unit

• A Microalbumin meter – Diabetes analyser for the Diabetes Resource Centre
• An MRI compatible Wheelchair for the Radiology Department
• High Dependency Unit for Woodlands (children's) Ward
• Provision of folding beds for patient families
• Ventilator and pumps for the safe transfer of very ill patients  

The Friends initiated the very successful Young Volunteers scheme and funded it for four years.  It has proved so successful that it has now been integrated into the hospital volunteering scheme.   Please ring 01423 555736 or email fiona.tomlinson@hdft.nhs.uk if you would like more information.
