I worked in the NHS for many years as a surgeon treating people with Head and Neck Cancer; caring for and talking with patients through their individual choices and priorities. Training the surgeons of the future was a joy as was working with the Department of Health on initiatives to improve care for patients with cancer. My later career focussed on research exploring the experience of people with Head and Neck cancer and then, with the National institute of Health Research, engaging with patients about clinical research.
I care very much about standards and the place of innovation in enhancing outcomes through technology. Both as a patient and a parent I have faced the impact of health problems. I look forward to bringing my broad professional and personal experience to support the very best in healthcare.
