I value my colleagues at the Trust and want them to continue to have the leadership, resources, knowledge, skills and support to enable them to deliver high quality, safe care. We have seen many challenges over the years within the NHS and I’m committed to ensuring that the Trust is an organisation that remains committed to a fair, just and learning culture – one that listens to and values its workforce, involving them in decisions that will effect them.
My NHS journey began 35 years ago as a nurse in London and then as a midwife. I have worked for the Trust for 16 years in both clinical and leadership roles,. My role as Professional Development Midwife allows me to work as part of a team, facilitating learning for the multidisciplinary team, not just in Maternity but also within partner departments (Emergency Department, Theatres, Resuscitation and Yorkshire Ambulance Service). My additional role of Professional Midwifery Advocate gives me the opportunity to support midwifery colleagues through restorative clinical supervision – giving staff the time and safe space to reflect on their experiences at work (and home) and in so doing reduce their levels of stress and burnout and empower them to implement quality improvements.
As a Governor I want to engage with staff, to understand the issues that matter to them and reflect these back to the Council of Governors.
If you would like to contact Kathy on a matter related to her role as a Governor, please email email@example.com. Thank you.
