Dr Ros Tolcher trained as a doctor at Southampton University Medical School, qualifying with honours in 1985. She was appointed to the role of Chief Executive at the Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust in August 2014 having previously been CEO of a large community and mental health trust in the south of England.
Ros was previously a Consultant in Reproductive Health and later becoming the Clinical Director of sexual health services. She went on to work as Primary Care Trust (PCT) Medical Director and later the Managing Director of PCT provider services.
Throughout her career, Ros has maintained an unwavering focus on patient experience and the quality of care provided. She brings to the role extensive experience of working across acute, community and primary care, and has been at the forefront of developing new models of integrated health and social care.
Harrogate and District is one of the National Vanguard sites for new Care Models and Ros is the chair of the Harrogate and District Transformation Board tasked with overseeing a major programme of clinical transformation.
As CEO, Ros is responsible for ensuring that our services are safe, effective, responsive, well led and provided with care and compassion at all times as well as ensuring the highest standards of financial management. Working closely with the Board of Directors, Governors, staff and partner organisations Ros shapes the Trust’s strategy, contributes to whole systems transformation and ensures the long-term sustainability of the Trust.
