Ripon Minor Injury Unit given thumbs up by patients who use it

The latest national Care Quality Commission Emergency Care Patient Survey results show that patients say waiting times at Ripon Minor Injury Unit impress them more so that patients say about comparable units across the country, and their overall experience was better than the national average.

Scoring better than the national average were patients’ views on how long they had to wait to speak with a health professional, how long they had to wait to be examined, and how quickly their whole visit to the unit took.

Ripon Minor Injury Unit is a drop-in service for the assessment and treatment of minor injuries.

The results are combined with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust’s other Minor Injury Unit in Selby. Overall, patients indicated that they had a very good experience in the units. When asked to score their overall experience, patients who had received care rated the Trust 9.2 out of 10.

Patients also said that staff did everything they could to help them control their pain, and that staff gave them enough information to help them care for their condition at home.

Responses to 22 other questions score the department ‘about the same’ as other hospitals, with one comparably lower (receiving test results before leaving the unit).

“Ripon Minor Injury Unit is a vital part of the local community in the city. We’re here to provide care for patients with a wide range of minor injuries including cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, strains, broken bones and minor burns can drop in to the MIU without the need for an appointment. If you need this kind of care, please come to us rather than travelling to Harrogate District Hospital.”
