The aim is to help you to approach your baby’s birth with confidence and provide you with the tools to enable you to remain calm and in control whatever course your birth takes. Following the course, we hope that you will have enough tools to enable you to remain calm and in control whatever course your birth takes. You can attend after 26 weeks pregnant, although it is advised to book following your 20 week scan.

Hypnobirthing @ Harrogate

Our Hypnobirthing teachers are all experienced NHS midwives who each have a diploma in Hypnobirthing. The Hypnobirthing @ Harrogate course is taught over one full Saturday in small, interactive groups. The course is endorsed by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, the Association of Hypnobirthing Midwives and the Royal College of Midwives.

Classes are held in the Education Centre on the 3rd floor of Strayside Wing at Harrogate District Hospital. We run courses on the first two Saturdays of each month from 9.30am-4pm.

A charge of £100 per couple applies. The cost covers the course and book (we will direct you to MP3 audio files to download to accompany the course). There are only six places per course (a place is for you and a birth partner) so we advise early booking to avoid disappointment as this course is increasingly popular.

Will I be hypnotised?

No! All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You will be taught techniques to help you achieve a deep state of relaxation.

We encourage both mum and her partner to participate and enjoy the relaxation parts of the day. Please each bring a mat or duvet to lie on, and a cushion or pillow for your comfort.

– first time mum

“As a dad I felt I really understood more about the process and had a ‘role’ to do during labour.”

– first time dad

“I wish I had known about hypnobirthing last time  this time I got the calm water birth I wanted.”

– second time mum

“I would recommend this course to anyone…it meant I approached my due date with a more positive mind set and I thoroughly believe hypnobirthing contributed to my six hour, calm labour without any pain relief.’

– first time mum home birth

“I was extremely anxious about having my second after having a very traumatic birth first time round. Before joining your class I was having panic attacks and just not embracing my pregnancy journey… honestly the hypnobirthing helped me so much with the birth. Thank you again for making this possible.”
