I qualified in medicine at the University of Leeds in 1998. I undertook various general medicine posts based in hospitals in West and North Yorkshire and gained the MRCP qualification. Following this I specialised in palliative medicine on the Yorkshire Palliative Medicine Training Scheme, working in hospices and specialist palliative care teams across the region.
I became a Consultant in 2008 and was appointed as the Palliative Medicine Consultant for Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust and Saint Michael’s Hospice. In 2014 I became the Medical Director for Saint Michael’s Hospice, which is now my main place of work.
