I studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and then at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals, London. I undertook various general medicine posts based in hospitals in the south of England and during this time gained my MRCP qualification. Following this I specialised in palliative medicine on the Yorkshire Palliative Medicine Training scheme, working in hospices and with specialist palliative care teams across the region. I was appointed as Locum Palliative Medicine Consultant for Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust and Saint Michael’s Hospice in 2010, and gained a substantive post in 2012.
