The intensive care unit is a specialist hospital ward that treats patients who are seriously ill and need constant monitoring.
It is staffed by specially trained health care professionals who deliver intensive levels of care with one nurse for every one or two patients. Patients on this unit are closely monitored and supported by sophisticated equipment, including ventilators that help patients breathe.
Our intensive care unit can care for up to 11 patients requiring basic to advanced life support. We look after over 400 patients per year with our extensive multi-disciplinary team including nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians and psychologists.
