New ‘Active at Home’ guidance for older adults published by Public Health England

In conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) and as part of the Sport England ‘Join the Movement’ campaign, Public Health England have published new practical guidance for older adults on how to maintain their strength and balance during the coronavirus outbreak.

It contains advice and instructions for doing home-based activities safely and why this is important for both physical and mental wellbeing, as well as useful contact information for more support.

This comes following concerns that older adults are at greater risk of suffering from loss of independence and needing care in the future due to low levels of physical activity while staying at home.
