Dr Adam Culverwell

Specialist in Abdominal and Liver Imaging, Cancer Diagnostics & Image-Guided Procedures

Dr Adam Culverwell is a Consultant Radiologist at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. While practising as a general radiologist, he has specialist expertise in gastrointestinal, abdominal, hepatobiliary imaging, cancer diagnostics and non-vascular image-guided procedures.

He currently serves as the Trust’s Lead Cancer Clinician and previously held the position of Clinical Lead for Imaging Services.

As Clinical Lead for the Rapid Diagnostic Service, Dr Culverwell works within a multidisciplinary framework to fast-track investigations for patients presenting with vague or complex symptoms that may indicate serious underlying disease. This service plays a critical role in enabling earlier diagnosis and intervention for cancer and other significant conditions.

Medical Education:

Dr Culverwell is committed to education and training within radiology. He plays an active role in teaching radiology trainees and medical students, focusing on abdominal and cancer imaging, imaging safety, and interventional techniques. He holds the position of Senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Leeds Medical School.

Research:

Dr Culverwell is actively involved in clinical research, particularly in gastrointestinal and oncological imaging. He is currently the Principal Investigator for several colorectal cancer research studies and is involved in wider national and international research networks aimed at advancing diagnostic standards and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
