Dr Andrew Koo

Dr Andrew Koo graduated from Newcastle Medical School in 2010 with Merit. He completed his Foundation Year training in London North West Thames Deanery (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust). In addition, he pursued two years of training in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine, before commencing his radiology training in West Yorkshire Radiology Academy in 2014.

During his time in training, he developed a keen interest in medical education and human factors, which led him to complete his Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education (PgDipClinEd) in 2016. He travelled to national and international conferences to deliver talks on his research on radiology discrepancy, which recently gained a “Time to Shine Education Award” at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He was also awarded a young European radiologist grant by European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in 2018.

He has been appointed as a Consultant Radiologist with subspecialty interests in Uro-radiology and musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology with non-vascular interventions. His non-vascular interventional skill set includes image-guided percutaneous biopsies/drainages (e.g. nephrostomies/ureteric stents) and bursal/joint injections.
