Mr Haughton is a Consultant Lower Limb Arthroplasty Surgeon and lead surgeon for hip fracture care. He completed an honours degree in Physiology at Edinburgh University before gradually migrating back towards Yorkshire via the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne where he completed his medical degree.
Mr Haughton completed 8 years of specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Yorkshire. He was awarded the prestigious John Fitton prize. Alongside his training in Trauma and Orthopaedics Mr Haughton worked with elite athletes as Head Doctor for Hunslet Rugby League Football Club for seven years.
Upon completion of his specialty training Mr Haughton spent 2 years in subspecialty fellowships: the first in complex hip surgery with Mr Jon Conroy in Harrogate; the second on a British Orthopaedic Association Clinical Leadership Fellowship in complex and revision lower limb arthroplasty surgery at South Tees Hospitals.
Mr Haughton has presented his research nationally and internationally and has published a number of papers in the orthopaedic literature.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his young family; mountain biking and getting out into the great outdoors. He is also an accomplished saxophonist and violinist.
