I have undertaken several specialist fellowships, with specific training in foot, ankle and knee surgery.
I have published and presented research findings nationally and internationally. Most recently this has included material presented to the 2014 and 2015 European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology congresses on complex ankle arthrodesis and navicular stress fractures; to the 2014 European Foot and Ankle Society congress on minimally invasive calcaneal osteotomy; to the 2015 British Orthopaedic Association congress on minimally invasive bone grafting for mid-foot fusion; and to the 2015 European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society on forefoot osteoid osteoma.
I have recently been an invited speaker at the 2014 Pan Arab Orthopaedic Congress in Oman and the 2015 World Orthopaedic Congress in China. I am a contributing author to the newly released EFORT Textbook of Orthopaedics & Trauma with a chapter on subtalar fusion and have had research papers on MIS flat foot correction and complex ankle surgery published in international peer review journals within the last 12 months.
I teach on surgical instructional courses in the UK and abroad and am an instructor in emergency care for the Football Association, the Rugby Football Union and the ATLS Provider/Instructor Courses. I am a member of the regional Surgical Training Committee, and I run the regional mock FRCS (Tr&Orth) exams. I also regularly contribute to a road safety programme for sixth formers in Yorkshire schools administered by West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
