Swaledale (Acute Frailty Unit)

The acute frailty unit

The acute frailty unit (AFU) is the admissions ward which specialises in the care of older people with frailty.

We have a dedicated multiprofessional team to attend to the acute medical problem and assess the patients other social, psychological and functional needs.

If a patient is expected to need to spend more than a day or two in hospital, they will be transferred to another appropriate ward for their ongoing care and treatment.
