The NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world. It runs every year and asks for the opinions of all 1.3 million NHS staff on their experience of working in the NHS and in their Trust.
In the 2024 survey, we heard from over 2,400 colleagues in HDFT which equates to 48.7% of our workforce which is an increase of 3% compared with the previous year.
We are very pleased with our results from the 2024 survey: the feedback from HDFT colleagues is very positive. The responses from the survey feed into the seven NHS People Promises and the two themes of Staff Engagement and Morale, and the chart below illustrates that in every area we score above average compared with similar organisations.
Two questions in particular give us an indication of the levels of satisfaction amongst the workforce. They are the proportion of colleagues agreeing with the statements, “I would recommend my organisation as a place to work,” and “If a friend or relative needed treatment I would be happy with the standard of care provided by this organisation.” The proportion of respondents recommending HDFT as a place to work has risen each year the past three surveys to 65%; the proportion saying that they would be happy with the standard of care at HDFT has risen for two consecutive years to 70.4%, both are well above the average score for similar trusts.
HDFT are committed to providing the best possible healthcare service for our patients children and community and providing an environment in which our staff can thrive.
