This year, the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate is running from Tuesday 9 July to Friday 12 July, opening from 8am – 6pm each day. As usual, traffic in and around Harrogate is expected to be impacted by the event. Patients and visitors to Harrogate District Hospital are advised to avoid Wetherby Road and plan alternative routes to attend the hospital or allow additional travelling time when making their way to the hospital, especially between 7.30am and 12.00pm, and 4.00pm and 7.00pm.
During the Great Yorkshire Show, the use of one-way traffic will be in operation between certain times on certain roads. The plan for this is as follows:
MORNING PHASE:
Wetherby Road (A661) will be one way from the Kestrel Roundabout to the junction with Rudding Lane towards the Showground from 6:30am on show days. The one way system has been extended which will be in-bound on the A658 between the Knaresborough Thistle Hill junction to the Kestrel roundabout for the morning period only.
AFTERNOON PHASE:
The one-way system is reversed and traffic will flow from the junction at Rudding Lane to the Kestrel roundabout from 2:00pm to 9:00pm, although this may be lifted earlier depending on the traffic.
Roads surrounding the area are likely to be most affected as traffic orders aim to get visitors to the Showground as quickly as possible.
