Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust’s (HDFT) Finance Team has been awarded One NHS Finance Towards Excellence Level 2 Accreditation by the NHS Finance Leadership Council.
The accreditation recognises NHS organisation’s finance teams which have the very best finance skills development, culture and practices in place. To achieve the accreditation, finance teams must demonstrate that their finance functions support clinical priorities, provide long‑term financial resilience and deliver high level performance across the Trust.
There are three levels in the scheme, each designed to reflect the continuous development of the organisation’s finance function and recognising the highest standards of financial competence and commitment to skills development. Accreditation lasts for three years and requires ongoing commitment to maintain standards.
The Trust was awarded Level 1 in October 2021 and over the last 12 months has been working towards Level 2.
Level 2 accreditation indicates that an organisation has achieved a high level of performance and an overall culture that is innovative and consistently supportive of the development of the finance capability throughout the organisation.
Jordan Mckie, Director of Finance at HDFT said: “We are delighted to have received Level 2 accreditation, which recognises our high standards of financial competence and commitment to enhancing patient services.
“Continuous improvement is at the heart of our organisation and as a finance team we are committed to developing our staff so that we our finance function can meet the challenges we will face in the future.
“I am immensely proud of the finance team for achieving Level 2 Accreditation, as it reflects their hard work and dedication to providing excellent financial service for our customers.”
The Finance Team is now aiming for the top Level 3, the highest accreditation for exceptional NHS finance functions.
