Patients can choose to have a blood test at Harrogate District Hospital or at the Chain Lane Community Hub in Knaresborough. These services do not run on weekends or on public holidays.
In order to have a blood test, it is essential that you have a test request form. These will be given to you by your GP or hospital consultant. Unfortunately, the phlebotomy staff are not able to print request forms.
Please check that all your personal details are correct and for any special instructions, such as fasting or resting, that have been added. We cannot proceed with your blood test if there are error on the form.
Blood tests at Harrogate District Hospital
When you arrive, please take a ticket from the ticket dispenser and have a seat in the waiting area. We see patients on a first come, first served basis. However, occasionally we have to give priority to patients requiring urgent samples.
In order to speed up the process, it would be helpful if you could remove your coat or jacket before entering the blood-taking room. When you’re called in, the phlebotomist will ask you to confirm your name and date of birth before beginning the procedure.
Opening hours:

Please note: Afternoon sessions between 2pm & 4pm are often quieter than mornings.
