The busy Outpatient Department is located on the ground floor of Harrogate District Hospital and offers assessment, treatment, and clinics for a range of different conditions.
Many specialities are offered in the Outpatient Department, and you will be directed to different waiting areas depending on the service you are accessing. The waiting areas are split into zones 1-7.
Patients are advised to check-in for their Outpatients appointment via the self check-in desks in the Hospital’s Main Entrance.

Outreach services
In addition to our hospital-based services, we also offer outreach services in Alwoodley, Wharfedale, Yeadon, Chapeltown, and Wetherby.
Ophthalmology services are also offered at Harrogate District Hospital, in the Phoenix Unit, Briary Wing.
If it’s more convenient for you to attend an outreach appointment, please inform a member of staff.
Infection prevention and control
To protect our vulnerable patients, we ask the patients attending clinics and appointments comply with our infection prevention and control rules. Please:
- Use the hand gel provided when entering and leaving the Department;
- Do not attend if you have been ill with diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours;
- Do not accompany anyone if you have been ill with diarrhoea or vomiting in last 48 hours.

Opening hours
The main Outpatient Department at Harrogate District Hospital is open from 8am–8.30pm, Monday-Friday.
The Ophthalmology Outpatient Department at Harrogate District Hospital is open Monday-Friday, 8.30am – 5pm, and Saturday, 8am-5pm.
