The Acute Medical unit is a 28 bedded medical admissions ward, with a 3 bed Medically Enhanced Care Unit, where we are able to care for patients that are acutely unwell and requiring close monitoring. AMU cares for all medical patients admitted via the Emergency Department, with a length of stay of between 24-48 hours.

Patients are usually admitted after attending the Emergency Department. We also take patients undergoing elective joint surgery from Wensleydale Ward.
