Patient Access Policy

The Patient Access Policy describes the way in which the Trust manages patient referrals, waiting lists, appointments and admissions.

The overarching principle is that patients will be seen in clinical priority order. Patients with the same clinical priority will be offered appointments or admissions in chronological order according to the length of time they have been waiting since their original referral. The policy also covers the approach that the Trust takes when appointments or admissions are cancelled (either by the patient or the Trust) as well as what happens when patients do not attend their appointments.
