Medicine for Members

Our exclusive ‘Members only’ events are an opportunity for you to find out more about specific health issues from our health experts. And you, our members, have inspired the topics for the programme of events by letting us know what interests you. The events are held in the Lecture Theatre, 3rd floor, Strayside Education Centre, Harrogate District Hospital. Tea and coffee is available in the Enterprise Room (located near the Lecture Theatre) 30 minutes before each presentation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to meet Governors and other members of staff involved with the presentation.

 How to reserve a seat

Medicine for Members’ events are open to Foundation Trust Members only.  Admission is free but registration is required as places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  Details of the next event and how to book are listed below.

Alternatively, you can contact the Foundation Trust Office on 01423 554489 or via email at Members.Event@hdft.nhs.uk.

If you have booked a place at a forthcoming event, but can no longer attend, please contact the Foundation Trust Office so that your place can be offered to someone else.

Details of the next Medicine for Members’ Event to be held in September will be provided here as soon as possible.

Council of Governors

Members of the public are welcome to attend our quarterly Council of Governors’ meetings to receive an update on how the Trust is performing and see presentations from the Governors and senior Trust executives.  There is also the opportunity to ask questions about any service that we provide, either in the hospital or the community.

Questions may be sent in advance by email to nhsfoundationtrust@hdft.nhs.uk,  or by telephone to the Foundation Trust Office on 01423 554489, or questions can be tabled to the Chairman at the beginning of the meeting or during the mid-meeting break.

Governors represent the interests of the Trust members and the general public we serve and this public meeting provides the opportunity to see them in action.

Board meetings

The Board meets in formal session on at least ten occasions annually, usually on the last Wednesday of the month, to receive assurance about the performance of the Trust, review strategic risk and make decisions on future development and management.

Meetings of the Board of Directors are held in two parts. The main meeting is open to the public while a shorter private session discusses issues which are commercial-in-confidence and/or disclose patient and staff identifiable information.

Please visit the Board Meetings page for further details.
