Medicine for Members
Our exclusive ‘Members only’ events are an opportunity for you to find out more about specific health issues from our health experts. And you, our members, have inspired the topics for the programme of events by letting us know what interests you. The events are held in the Lecture Theatre, 3rd floor, Strayside Education Centre, Harrogate District Hospital. Tea and coffee is available in the Enterprise Room (located near the Lecture Theatre) 30 minutes before each presentation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to meet Governors and other members of staff involved with the presentation.

Annual Members’ Meeting
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting took place on Monday, 3 September 2018 – ‘You Matter Most – Celebrating our successes in the NHS’s 70th birthday year’.
The evening commenced at 5pm with members of the public, staff and Trust members being invited to look round a wide range of informative stands showcasing services from across the Trust. It was an ideal opportunity for people to network with Governors and Board members and enjoy a piece of NHS 70th birthday cake made by Tony Sadler, Catering Services.
The formal meeting commenced at 6pm with Angela Schofield, Chairman welcoming everyone to the meeting and reiterating the values of the NHS. She thanked all Trust staff for their continued hard work and praised our extremely valued volunteers. Pamela Allen, Deputy Chair of Governors and Public Governor for Harrogate and surrounding villages presented the Council of Governors’ Overview of the Year supported by Rosemary Marsh and Tony Doveston, both Public Governors, who highlighted some of their experiences of quality assurance across the Trust.
Jonathan Coulter, Deputy Chief Executive and Finance Director presented the Annual Report and Accounts for 2017/18 and confirmed this had been the most challenging financial year to date. He highlighted the tremendous donations received by Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity and provided a few examples of how the Trust has invested this valuable contribution in the last 12 months.
Dr Ros Tolcher, Chief Executive went on to provide an overview of the Trust’s performance in 2017/18; she highlighted some of the Trust’s successes throughout the year and paid tribute to all the staff and our Youth Forum who are playing a leading role in our children’s strategy ‘Hopes for Health’.
Following the statutory presentations, people engaged in round table conversations about ‘Your healthcare experience at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation – what made it a good experience?’ There was a buzz of enthusiasm in the room and people had the opportunity to provide valuable feedback.
Mrs Schofield then opened up the floor for questions to an expert panel before closing the meeting at 8pm.
This word cloud is a visual representation of feedback collected from people engaged in the round table conversations about ‘Your healthcare experience at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust – what made it a good experience?’
The meeting was a huge success and thanks go to everyone who attended.

Meetings of the Board of Directors are held in two parts. The main meeting is open to the public while a shorter private session discusses issues which are commercial-in-confidence and/or disclose patient and staff identifiable information.
