Jai and Emma were nominated in recognition of their dedication and teamwork in delivering the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). Despite challenges they successfully completed almost 90% of the programme before the end of the second school term, far exceeding expectations. Jane Miles – Health Visitor, Northumberland & Melanie Hill – Health Visitor, Northumberland
Jane was nominated in recognition of her flexibility, professionalism, and commitment to supporting both families and colleagues during a period of increased demand.
She agreed to temporarily move localities to help address a backlog of work, ensuring core contacts were delivered in timescale so families could access care for their children at the right time. This also provided valuable support to the wider team. Jane also demonstrated proactive and compassionate care when supporting a family where the mother was experiencing difficulties and previous appointments had been cancelled. She ensured timely follow-up, took responsibility for ongoing reviews, and identified additional support needs, arranging further visits in line with the family’s care plan.
Melanie was nominated in recognition of her involvement in the Northumberland SEND inspection. Her contribution during the review demonstrated how instrumental she has been in supporting children to access the right services at the earliest opportunity.
Feedback from the Head of Service for Children’s Quality Assurance highlighted the strength of Melanie’s practice, her in-depth knowledge of the families she works with, and her clear understanding of children’s needs. Uthfala went above and beyond in caring for a very complex patient, who was the first on Oakdale to receive bi-specific treatment at HDFT.
Uthfala provided outstanding support to both the patient and their relative, offering reassurance throughout. Following a short two-day stay, the patient was successfully discharged home. The family were keen to ensure that Uthfala received recognition for her hard work and compassionate support.

Marta and Leonora consistently go above and beyond, even during difficult and short-staffed shifts.
